Explore and identify Client Vision
The first step is to help the client determine, articulate and quantify their overall vision of financial success and wellbeing. More specifically, where does the client see their portfolio in 3, 5, 10, 25 years? What are the income needs from their portfolio? Will they rely more on capital gains? Is the portfolio a conduit to fund charities or grandchildren’s education? Ascertaining answers to these types of questions will allow us to construct an investment portfolio that best fits the client’s unique vision.
Establish Investment Philosophy
It is our belief that portfolios must be efficient, in that investment return should follow the risk the portfolio takes. By reviewing the client’s goals and dreams as well as time horizon and tax status, we will be able to better assess the client’s ability to take risk. However, the client’s ability to take risk may not coincide with their willingness to take risk. We believe we need to understand and explore the client’s overall investment philosophy in order to have all the necessary items to properly prepare the optimal portfolio. As a result of this discovery, each client will receive a personalized Investment policy Statement that will be based on their risk/return profile and their overall objectives. |
